Here’s the latest on the model. I tweaked the body and added the fan blades and motors. I began work on the undercarriage as you can see I’ve scooped out the landing gear wells. I’ve also applied some initial shaders to give some weight to the model parts.

So I’m learning a new software package and I thought I’d pick a simple project to get familiar with the tool set and techniques. Those of you familiar may remember the Hovercraft in the Mesa Verse desert farm scene. I thought that would be a simple enough model. I have plenty of shots thanks to [Read the Rest...]

After many years of being dormant, The EPCOT Center Project is back alive. I’ve been working on it the last couple of weeks but didn’t want to post anything until I had something substantial to show. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had to gather up a bunch of my research and rebuild [Read the Rest...]

So I’ve been going over my models to see what condition they’re in and what direction I need to go with them. After taking a good look at my EPCOT Center model I now realize my map is far from correct. Since it was derived from satellite photos, it is distorted in more than one [Read the Rest...]

I’ve been going over my models, getting some of them ready to work on again, and here’s some enhanced monorail renders. I tweaked the lighting and I think it looks a lot better now.

Ask and ye shall receive, Phoenixnight.

…or at least as far as I’m going to take it at this point. Click the images to see a larger version. This weekend I’m going to put the monorail into the EPCOT Center model and see how well it all fits. I’ll post a render when it’s done. It should look pretty cool. I’ll [Read the Rest...]

Yes, it’s been a little while since my last update. I have been working on the monorail, it’s just been touch and go for the last month. I’ve been working on the details of the monorail and as you can see below, I’m still tweaking the materials for the monorail. I have to finish setting [Read the Rest...]

I’ve been tweaking the nose of the monorail trying to get it to look as close as possible to my reference materials. Tonight I worked on laying out and cutting the door to the driver’s cabin. The other night I also added the headlights to the front of the nose. (Although you can’t see them [Read the Rest...]

The next step in the EPCOT Center Project is to build a monorail for the monorail station. Since the model is set in 1983, the monorail is a Mark IV model. (see this post for more info) I started by modeling the nose of the monorail: This is a smoothed version of the above mesh: [Read the Rest...]
